Mister Twenty Three Percent

23%.  That's the President's approval rating in the latest LA Times / Bloomberg poll.

The survey found public approval of President Bush's job performance at a new low for the Times/Bloomberg Poll: only 23% approved of the job Bush is doing, and 73% disapproved.

This is the same poll that found that Obama had a 48-33 lead nationally in a four-way Obama/McCain/Barr/Nader race.

And just for comparison, Richard Nixon was never lower than a 23% approval rate.  George W. Bush's approval rating is now down with the crookedest President in American history.  What's also odd is that 23% was exactly the number of Americans who responded, in a 2002 poll, that they approved of the government's use of torture in a hypothetical situation.

I guess no one else is left on the Bush's side!

The President's been desperately trying to lie low politically over the last few months, but his strategy isn't working.  Without any active help from the corrupt and destructive White House administration at all, the U.S. continues to crumble from the years of reactionary Republican neglect.

Nothing, in my view, can save John McCain now.  His years of playing second fiddle to the President has doomed him to what should be a spectacular defeat.  Now let's work like mad to push forward the agenda for change in every state in the Union - send the Republicans to the kind of defeat that will cripple them for a generation.
